Vietnam Air Combat Records in the National Archives
While researching scenarios for Downtown I found a range of records in the US National Archives. This is my record of stitching them together
There appear to be three sets of catalogue records
"Records About Air Sorties Flown in Southeast Asia, 1970-1975" (ARC Identifier 602566).
"Combat Air Activities Files (CACTA), 10/01/1965 - 01/31/1971" (ARC Identifier 2123846).
"Combat Air Activities Files (CACTA), October 1965–December 1970" (ARC Identifier 634496)
I have also located
Combat Air Summary Files (OPREA), November 1, 1961–August 31, 1973 (ID 625084) There are also subsets within this series which have overlapping dates.
Combat Air Activities (COACT) System Files, ca. April 1, 1969–ca. January 31, 1970 (ID 7451124)
The box containing all the OPREP-4 is still the holy grail that is out there somewhere.
